Ajinkya Rahane Will be Part of Delhi Capitals in IPL
2020
Ajinkya
Rahane, one of the key players of the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier
League (IPL , could run for the Delhi Capitals from next season if the
franchise manages to replace him with RR in IPL 2020.
Rahane
led the Royals for a majority of IPL 2019 and resigned, the results not going
in the team's favor. Steve Smith has been reappointed as team skipper and many
have criticized Rahane for his tactics at the helm. If DC manages to secure
Rahane's services for next season, it will be another big step forward for the
franchise after Shikhar Dhawan made contact last season.
Dhawan
scored 521 runs with the help of five-half-20s, and that's one of the main
reasons DC qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2012.
"Yes,
DC is trying to bring In Rahane, but it's too early to say whether the deal
will come to light. Many things need to be settled before signing the dotted
line. NOR can RR's position on the whole problem be ignored, as he has been a
great ambassador. But yes, the talks are ongoing," the source reportedly
told IANS.
According
to the source, the mix of youth and experience is what motivates a team and
having Rahane on board would be a blessing for the franchise.
"The
team has tried to find the right balance between youth and experience and what
Rahane brings to the table is not a topic to be debated. He's here to see
everything. Dhawan and Ishant Sharma have shown what it means to experience the
head in the dug pit mean that the situation is difficult and that it could be
such a sealed dream".
After
playing for the Mumbai Indians in 2008 and 2009, Rahane skipped the 2010 IPL
before joining RR in 2011. From then on, his affair with the Royals was a
tradition of clothing. Meanwhile, he starred for Rising Pune Supergiant when
the Rajasthan franchise was banned for two years.
