Shoaib Akhtar Slams Jofra Archer for His Behaviour
Former
Australian skipper Steve Smith was hit in the head on the fourth day of the
second Ashes Test against England at Lord's. The injury reminded fans on both
sides of the destructive blow that claimed Phil Hughes' life. Despite this, the
English crowd continued to shame Smith while Jofra Archer shared a smile with
his team-mate. This is not going well with many of them and former Pakistani
fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has criticized Archer for his behavior towards Smith.
Smith,
who was at his task once again to revive the innings of Australia after losing
a few wickets early. He teamed up at the bottom of the order to help the
Australians score a tough total in response to the English round of 258. The
host tried many ways to convince Steve Smith to join Jofra Archer and target
his body at nearly 150 km/h. In the afternoon session, when Smith was hit by a
rookie bouncer hit Smith's forearm. Struggling in pain but Buttler continued to
go on, but ten overs later, another vicious Arche bouncer caught Smith off
guard.
The
ball hit Steve Smith in the back of the neck, forcing him to withdraw injured.
Spectators at Smith's heroic Lord's meeting in unison as Jofra Archer walked
away from the batsmen and shared a laugh with Jos Buttler. While Archer
revealed he had lost time after Smith's fall, Shoaib Akhtar criticized the
young fast-paced gunner for his attitude towards Smith.
"Bouncers
are an integral part of the game, but every time a bowler hits a batsman on the
head and falls, courtesy requires the bowler to watch him. It was not nice of
Archer to leave while Smith was in pain. I was always the first to run to the
batsmen," tweeted Shoaib Akhtar.
