Ben Stokes Reveals Reason of His Heroic Performance
Ben
Stokes' explosive blow of 135 uncommitted people allowed his team to cross the
finish line. England recorded a historic one-stop-shop victory over Australia
in the third try at Headingley. The Ashes series is now 1-1, with two more test
matches to play.
Meanwhile,
Stokes revealed that he ate fried chicken and a few chocolate bars which helped
him play the way he did.
He
said: "Last night I had a draw against Nandos and two bars of Yorkie
biscuits and raisins. Moreover, two coffees this morning.
"The night before, my wife and children arrived at the hotel around 10 p.m. and
walked in with me eating pasta in their underwear!"
Undoubtedly,
Ben Stokes shows a tremendous inning of all time. He still impressed with his
winning shot, which is considered better than his performance in the World Cup
final.
"It's
close. Going out at the end, while Headingley was standing and celebrating was
an extraordinary moment, and I had to try to take it.
"It
was a fantastic play to be a game and keeping our Ashes alive is a fantastic
feeling. We knew that if we lost, the ashes were gone. Sitting here with a
chance to win back the ballot box is incredible, especially after being
eliminated for 67 years,"
"Ben
Stokes is a monster; he is impressive. I can't put this victory into words, and
it was ridiculous, right?
"For
Ben, playing this way was amazing. He had the experience of the World Cup
final, but doing so in the cricket test, where there are no restrictions on the
standings on the pitch, shows incredible calm, skill and resilience. Simply
phenomenal. "
He
also hailed Stokes as a "team man" highly respected by his
team-mates.
"Ben
is the ultimate team man. He would do anything for all of us. That's why he's
the perfect vice-captain. He's a smart cricketer, and he trains people with
him. He has so much respect in the locker room. Root also spoke of the bitter
thriller on the edge of the siege and England's long-awaited victory.
"This
victory gave us a tremendous amount of conviction; it's so special. This shows
the character and courage of this team. Games like this make test cricket the
best. The game had it all. "
