Chris Gayle Walks Out in a Special Jersey
Chris
Gayle received a special send-off from Indian players after his dismissal from
the third ODI and final game at Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad on Wednesday,
August 14. The "Boss of the Universe" seemed at his best when he
crushed the Indian bowlers around the park, running 72 out of 41 balls. He hit
five and eight in his final rounds of the ODI, taking the hosts to 121 on the
12th day at the time of his fall.
Gayle
came out when he slapped a delivery from Khaleel Ahmed directly in the middle
of the game, where Virat Kohli took a nice catch. The Indian team celebrated
the dismissal before each of them went to Gayle to congratulate the
left-hander. Kohli even made a quick jig in typical style with his former Royal
Challengers teammate Bangalore (RCB).
Gayle
then walked away, holding his helmet in the air, in front of the spectators. During
Wednesday's match, the Jamaican donned his specially designed jersey with 301
skirts, the number of IDs he played. He usually wears the number 45. Of those
301 ODIs, Gayle represented the West Indies in 298, a record he claimed at the
2019 World Cup. During the India Vs West Indies series, Gayle surpassed Brian Lara's career
total of 10,405 points, a record for a West Indies player.
