Danajaya and Williamson Reported for Suspicious Bowling Action
World
Cup Finalist Kiwi’s Skipper Kane Williamson and Sri Lankan spin bowler Akila
Dananjaya reported for suspicious bowling actions, following the first New
Zealand Vs Sri Lanka Test match, which took place August 14-18 in Galle Stadium
that Sri Lanka won comfortably.
The
report of the match officials, which was handed over to the management of both
teams, cited concerns about the legality of both players' bowling actions.
The
duo will now have to undergo testing within 14 days of the report date, i.e.
August 18. However, until the test results are known, both players will be able
to continue bowling. While Dananjaya had a very important role to play with her
bowling alley in Sri Lanka's victory, winning a quarter in the first innings,
Williamson pitched just three extras from his half-time break.
Both
players have been called to illegal actions before in their races as well. Kane
Williamson also banned back in July 2014, while Dananjaya also banned in
December 2018 and again they both got reported for suspicious bowling action.
