South
Africa's senior batsman Hashim
Amla announced his retirement of all game formats on Thursday. The Protease
star represented his team in 349 international matches in all formats. However,
Amla will continue to play domestic cricket. The executive chairman of Cricket
South Africa (CSA), Thabang Monroe, praised the services of the star hitter
after his announcement.
Hashim Amla Said:
All
Glory to the Almighty for granting me this journey of Proteas that has been
nothing but a joy and a privilege. I learned many things during this amazing
15-years journey, made many friends, and most importantly shared the love of a
brotherhood called #proteafire.
I
would like to thank my parents for their prayers, love, and support throughout
my whole career; it is their shadow over me that allowed me to play for years
under the Proteas sun. Besides, my family, friends, and agent, my teammates and
all support staff members throughout this amazing journey. A sincere thank you
to each of you!
The
star Batsmen thanked his fans and CSA officials for the opportunities they gave
him.
Thanks
to the fans for giving me energy when times were tough, and for celebrating
with me when we succeeded together. And, of course, a very special thanks to
the President and the Board of Cricket South Africa, not to mention the
Executive Director, Thabang Moroe, and his administrative team. I appreciate
all the opportunities and I'm grateful.
