Is Something Going Between Kholi and Ashwin
Ravichandran
Ashwin has yet to play a single international match this year. India has
already fallen to the forefront of the FDI and T20I hierarchy, and its testing
career seems to be moving in the same direction. However, while his momentum
over the limited-over format justified to some extent, his treatment in the
Tests are by no means explained.
It
should remember that Ashwin is one of India's biggest match-winners in the
Tests. Ravichandran Ashwin holds the Indian Man-of-Series record, and only six
Indians have won more matches than him. His overall career in cricket testing
is also imposing. To date, in 65 Tests, he has 342 wickets at 25.43 and 2,361
Races at 29.14. It is the fastest in the world with 250 and 300 test counters.
But
His records have hardly changed, with India finding him for the first test
underway against the West Indies in Antigua. Instead of Ashwin, India chose
Ravindra Jadeja, to everyone's surprise. Ashwin's record against the West
Indies is genuinely remarkable.
In
The 2016 Test Series, Ashwin collected 17 wickets in four games with a game
almost emptied. He won a 7 for in the very first test of this series. He also
scored two centuries to win the Men's Prize in the series. In total, in 11
tries against the West Indies, Ashwin won 60 wickets at 21.85 and scored four
cents to give him an average of more than 50.
