England drop Jason Roy for the Final Ashes Test 2019
The
England team dropped Jason Roy for the fifth, and final Ashes Test against
Australia. The one-day star failed to impress in the first four games of the
series, either in the opening score or in the last defeat at Old Trafford,
where he had the highest score of 31.
With
Roy, Craig Overton was also left out for the oval clash, with Sam Curran and Chris
Woakes taking their place. The Cricket Board of England and Wales (ECB) also
confirmed that Ben Stokes would not take part in the final test due to a
shoulder injury and would play a specialist batsman.
While
Australia kept the hopes to win the final Ashes test 2019 after the first win
of their series on English soil since 2001, Joe Root's team still has a chance
to pull off the series if they manage to beat the Australians in the final
Test.
England
play the fifth and final test of the ashes:
, Joe
Root (captain), Jofra Archer, Jonny Bairstow (wicket). Stuart Broad, Rory
Burns, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran. Joe Denly, Jack Leach, Ben Stokes, Chris
Woakes.
