Misbah-ul-Haq Speaks After Being Selected as a Chief Selector and Head Coach
PCB
has appointed former captain Misbah-ul-Haq as the team's head coach and head
selector for the next three years. Former Pakistani Waqar Younis has been named
a coach for the bowlers.
"The
fact that the head coach is also ahead selector is innovative and a new
introduction to our system. But while the PCB has further strengthened Misbah's
power, it has also put more responsibility on its shoulders".
In
the official press release of the PCB, Misbah said: "It is an honour for
me to be part of a small group of the best who has already coached the
Pakistani national teams. It is an honour and more than that, a huge
responsibility as we live and breathe cricket.
"I[Misbah]
know the expectations are high, but I am quite ready and ready for the
challenge. Otherwise, I wouldn't have chosen my name for one of the most
difficult and coveted cricket roles in Pakistan,".
Misbah
was delighted to work with Waqar Younis. "I am delighted to have someone
as experienced and competent as Waqar Younis in my corner as a steamer coach
again. We have excellent young fast bowlers in our ranks, and there is no
better person than Waqar to turn them into stars of the modern world,"
Mishab said.
"As
I prepare to enter a new phase of my career, I would like to thank my family,
friends, former teammates, the PCB, and my club, the departments and the
franchise for supporting me in my career".
