Ambati Rayudu Want a Chance to Play in IPL 2020
Former
Indian batsman Ambati Rayudu seems to have changed his mind about his
retirement. The right-hander had sensationally announced that he was
withdrawing from "all forms and levels" of cricket after the sabotage
of the World Cup.
And
although Rayudu was named one of the five World Cup candidates, he was ignored
twice when the Indian team's selectors and management opted for Rishabh Pant
and Mayank Agarwal to replace the two injured Shikhar Dhawan and Vijay Shankar,
respectively.
Well,
a few months after announcing his retirement from all forms of the game, Rayudu
confirmed that he would play in the Indian Premier League. Not only that, but
Rayudu also said he was ready to play again for India. Rayudu has been with the
Chennai Super Kings for the past two seasons.
In
2018, he was the top scorer for the Chennai Super Kings. Rayudu scored more
than 600 points as the Super Kings won the title on their return to the league
after serving a two-year suspension. However, he had a bad IPL this year,
having managed only 282 races in 17 rounds, which has hurt to some extent his
World Cup hopes.
"I
am very pleased that CSK has always provided support. I would be very happy to
prepare the IPL well and represent CSK. I would play IPL 2020." He
added that he would soon be preparing for his return to the game.
"I
wasn't thinking about it too much, but I would prepare well to get back to
white-ball cricket as soon as possible. I like the game. Seeing ambition and
goals are one thing, but it's always the game I love. It's about playing
cricket".
"So,
I thought why not move on? Nothing like a target or anything. But my priority
would be to be in top shape. I haven't played cricket in a while and it might
take me a month and a half to be in top form."
