Virender Sehwag Criticizes Selectors on MS Dhoni’s Future

Dhoni's withdrawal from international cricket continues to drag on. Although
there has been the talk for some time about MS Dhoni's retirement, it only
accelerated during the World Cup. According to reports, MS Dhoni will retire at
the end of the World Cup.
However,
the former Indian skipper has not retired. He completely took the center on
himself by taking a two-month break in cricket. But the retirement talks are
not over and Virender Sehwag, the former Indian worker, has now spoken about
it. The legendary batsman said the selectors should contact MS Dhoni about his
future in the team.
When
the selectors announced their selection for the West Indies tour, the head of
the team, MSK Prasad, said that Rishabh Pant was preparing the role of a
wicketkeeper in the future. When asked if he would have chosen Dhoni if he had
been available, Prasad replied: "First of all, he's not fit, so when he's
fit and available, we'll see."
Sehwag,
however, believes that selectors should have a clear picture. While Sehwag said
it was up to Dhoni to decide when he wanted to retire, the selectors had to
keep him informed of their plans instead of adding to the speculation.
"This
[retirement] is Dhoni's appeal. If he thinks he's fit and can contribute as he
did, then why not continue," Sehwag told the Hindustan Times. "But if
the breeders think That MSD can't contribute, then they should tell him that
we're giving you this latest round. That should be communicated.
"This
communication should always be there between the selectors and the player. I
don't know if the selectors have [this communication] or not. We only read MSK
[Prasad] making a statement about selectors telling MSD that it was not their
first choice. This means that they will choose Pant first, and then if they
have to choose a second goalkeeper, they will choose Dhoni. That's not
possible. After a while, Dhoni should decide, talk to the selectors and ask for
a game for retirement. That's when he feels it's the right time to quit".
Dhoni,
meanwhile, has little chance of getting a chance in the team for the next home
series against South Africa. India will only play T20I and tests against the
Proteas and you can't see Dhoni, who has retired from testing, getting a call
for the T20I.
