Arrest warrant issued against Muhammad Shami for domestic violence
The
domestic violence scandal Mohammad Shami took a turn
for the worse after an Indian district court issued an arrest warrant for
Speedster in connection with the domestic violence case filed by Shami's wife,
Hasin Jahan.
The Court asked him to surrender within 15 days. In the meantime, the Cricket
Control Commission of India (BCCI) said it was too early to act against Shami
and that the decision would be made once the act of receipt was received.
"Yes,
We understand that an arrest warrant has been issued but don't really see us
getting involved in this case right now. Once we have seen the indictment, we
can decide the current situation and whether the BCCI constitution calls for
action. But at this point, I would say it's too early to take a call on
this," the BCCI official said, as cited by IANS.
CourtCurrently,
Shami is present in Jamaica and is part of the Indian team for the Tour of the
West Indies. Last year, Shami and his brother were registered under SECTION
498A of the ICC for domestic violence after Hasin Jahan filed a complaint.
