Pakistan Cricket Board Announced HBL PSL 2020 Season 5 Schedule
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) today fulfilled one more of its promises to fans and supporters when it announced the HBL Pakistan Super League PSL 2020 schedule with the 34 games to be played at four international headquarters in Pakistan from February 20 to March 22)
The announcement of the schedule was part of the 50 days to go to the 2020 HBL Pakistan Super League celebrations which also included the launch of the countdown clock, which was mounted at the main entrance of Gaddafi Stadium, the home of Pakistan's cricket.
The reigning champions, Quetta Gladiators, will open the event at the back of an opening ceremony at Karachi National Stadium, when they will face each other face-to-face with the two-time winners, Islamabad United, while the curtains will fall on the fifth edition of one of the most popular leagues and followed on March 22 at Gaddafi Stadium.
The National Stadium will also host the Qualifier between the two best teams, while Gaddafi Stadium will host the two Eliminators and the final.
Of the 34 matches of the event, the National Stadium will host nine matches and the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host 14 matches. Multan Sultans will play three games at Multan Cricket Stadium, while Pindi Cricket Stadium will be the scene of eight matches.
According to the event schedule, defending champions Quetta Gladiators will play three matches in Lahore, four in Karachi, one in Multan and two in Rawalpindi; while Peshawar Zalmi, the 2017 winners and the 2019 losing finalists, will be in action in one match each in Lahore and Multan, three in Karachi and five in Rawalpindi.
Islamabad United will play three games in Lahore, two in Karachi and five in Rawalpindi; Karachi Kings will play two matches in Lahore, five in Karachi, one in Multan and two in Rawalpindi; Multan Sultans will play five games in Lahore, one in Karachi, three in Multan and one in Rawalpindi; and Lahore Qalandars will play eight matches in Lahore and one in Karachi and Rawalpindi.
PCB President Ehsan Mani said: "The 2020 HBL Pakistan Super League will feature 36 foreign stars. It was gratifying that 425 foreign players from 22 countries registered their interest in playing in the 2020 HBL PSL. Of these, 39 from Afghanistan, 12 from Australia, 23 from Bangladesh, 10 from Canada, 109 from England, seven from Hong Kong, six from Ireland, seven from the Netherlands, eight from Nepal, 11 from New Zealand, nine from Oman, five from Scotland, four from Singapore, 27 from South Africa, 39 from Sri Lanka, nine from the United Arab Emirates, six from the United States, 82 from the West Indies, 9 from Zimbabwe and one from Bermuda, Kenya and Namibia.
"This shows the confidence that players around the world have in playing in Pakistan."
