India Top on ICC Test Championship Points Table
After
an impressive victory in the West Indies, the Indian national cricket team led
by Virat Kohli is top of the points table in the current ICC Test Championship.
They scored a 318-point victory in their opening match of the ICC World Test
Championship. They had a perfect 60-point win, which allowed them to seal the
top spot.
After
being beaten in the first Ashes Test 2019 and the second draw, Ben Stokes' class
helped them take fourth place in the table. Otherwise, they would have been at
the bottom of the table. For India, Jasprit Bumrah caused chaos with a
five-wicket portage, completing the 100 Test wickets, long-awaited by Ajinkya
Rahane.
Ajinkya
Rahane stars with the bat while Jasprit Bumrah delivered the second set. The
other outstanding players of the team who accomplished the task to perfection
was Ishant Sharma in the first rounds. Hanuma Vihari in the second set,
alongside a decent contribution from Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja.
The victory propelled India to the top of the World Test Championship standings
with 60 points. Sri Lanka is currently second, although they have an equal
number of points. Australia and England are now third and fourth respectively
with 32 points.
For
England, it was Ben Stokes, who alone won the match for the team. England, who
were taken for a humiliating 67 in the first set, needed 73 points to win when
the last man, Jack Leach, came on the fourth day. Stokes, who took charge,
broke the remaining points to seal one of the magic wins in the cricket game.
