MS Dhoni Celebrates Independence Day in Ladakh
Former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni,
currently serving in the Indian army, is in Ladakh, where he brought 73rd
Indian Independence Day with the masses of the newly formed union territory.
On 5 August, the central government repealed the provisions of Article 370 and Article 35A of the Indian
Constitution, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir and forked the
state into two territories of the union: the territory of the Jammu and Kashmir
union and the territory of the Ladakh union.
MS Dhoni arrived in Ladakh on
Wednesday, where he received a warm reception from Army personnel and
interacted with them. The 38-year-old, Cricket Super Star also reportedly
visited the Army General Hospital and interacted with patients.
Several photos have appeared on
social media showing former Indian captain interacting with people in the armed
forces.
Previously, several photos had
also gone viral where MS Dhoni was seen playing volleyball with members of his
Territorial Army battalion and polishing shoes.
MS Dhoni has been in charge of
patrolling, monitoring and publishing duties with troops during his time in the
regiment for.
The 38-year-old, MS Dhoni joined
the 106 TA Battalion (Para) in Jammu and Kashmir on 30 July. MS Dhoni holds the
honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army unit of the
Parachute Regiment (106 Battalion for TA).
In 2015, he became a qualified
skydiver after completing five parachute training jumps from Indian army
aircraft at Agra's training camp.
The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman,
MS Dhoni took a two-month break from the Indian team and was therefore not
included in the team for the ongoing West Indies tour.
