PCB Lifted the Ban from Umar Akmal

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has banned Umar Akmal for three years for failing to inform the authorities about a match in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). However, after re-appealing against the verdict, the sentence was reduced to one year. The PCB has lifted the ban from Umar Akmal. Umar Akmal has already been banned for one year since February last year. So there was no obstacle for the Pakistani batsman to return to cricket.

However, even if the punishment is reduced, Umar Akmal will also have to pay a large fine. The one-time Pakistan star batsman will have to pay a fine of 4.25 million Pakistani rupees. Umar Akmal, a one-time regular face of the Pakistan national team, had earlier kept a secret from the authorities after receiving an offer from a gambler in the PSL. He was later banned from all forms of cricket for 18 months after being found guilty of violating Section 2.4.4 of the PCB's Anti-Corruption Act.

Umar Akmal, 29, has played 18 Tests, 121 ODIs, and 64 T20I matches for Pakistan. The middle-order batsman has scored 1003, 3194, and 1890 runs respectively.
